Emilia-Romagna has achieved a prestigious European recognition with the award of the "Floods & Droughts" project. 

The four-year initiative aims to integrate Artificial Intelligence into flood and drought prevention strategies, fulfilling the Regional Presidency's commitment to establishing a "Water Network". 

The project establishes close cooperation between important European and Italian regions, focused on resilient water resources management and climate risk mitigation. 

A sustainable water management also requires the ability to better measure it.

This idea gave rise to the collaboration between Lepida and EmiliAmbiente, a public company that manages the Integrated Water Service in the Bassa Ovest territory of the Province of Parma. 

Launched in 2024, the project provides Lepida's IoT infrastructure to introduce over 39.000 smart metering meters in the 11 municipalities it serves: from Busseto to Fidenza, from Colorno to Sissa Trecasali.

An environment monitoring system dedicated to the elderly residents of the F. Barocci rest home in Sarsina was tested.

The initiative is part of the activities of ER2Digit – European Digital Innovation Hub. 

The project included the installation of devices connected to each other through a wireless network capable of detecting the conditions of inner spaces. Sensors have been placed in rooms requiring stable temperatures, in common and guest rooms.

The devices measure temperature, humidity, atmospheric pressure, carbon dioxide level, brightness, and air quality.

Making digital truly accessible means creating the conditions for no one to fall behind, especially when it comes to public services. 

On November 26th, in the Library of the Legislative Assembly of the Emilia-Romagna Region, this statement took shape with the officialization of the Integrated Action Plan and the signing of the Manifesto for Digi-Inclusion, as part of the URBACT Digi-Inclusion project.

When different experiences meet, the value often lies in the questions that arise.

It is in this spirit that Lepida welcomed a Chilean delegation of students and healthcare professionals on November 27th for a moment of discussion on digital transformation paths in healthcare. 

This meeting was an opportunity to share approaches and perspectives on healthcare data management in Emilia-Romagna, waiting time monitoring, and the use of Artificial Intelligence in order to support services, always in compliance with the regulatory framework.

The Board of Directors of Lepida has appointed Francesco Raphael Frieri as Director General for the next three-year term.

The first experimental labs of Citizen Science in Action, promoted by Regione Emilia-Romagna together with Art-ER, Lepida and the University of Bologna, were held in Faenza during the Digital Days on November 16th and 17th.

The final stage, dedicated to the Digital Wellbeing, saw four classes from the Oriani and Torricelli-Ballardini institutes work with passion, giving rise to ideas and app mockups ranging from recognizing fake news to monitoring time spent on devices.

The kick-off meeting of SUM-Seniors United against Misinformation, a new European project funded by the Erasmus+ program and dedicated to strengthening the digital skills of those over 65, took place in Barcelona on October 28 and 29 at the Fundació Bofill Social HUB.

The coordinator is Mediawijs, Flanders' centre for media and digital literacy hosted within IMEC, a leading European research centre on nanoelectronics, microchips and digital technologies.
