Last April 2026, Lepida succeeded in creating a winning synergy between the ER2Digit project and the Emilia-Romagna Region’s Big Data Platform, "MarghERita," made available to Public Administrations via a call for proposals.

In record time, thanks to the availability of the Region’s and Lepida’s technicians, one of the use cases that ER2Digit was developing together with the Union of Municipalities of Bassa Romagna, called DigitSUE, was deployed on the MarghERita platform.

The DigitSUE project, within the scope of the 2025-TBI-LEP-11-AI service, "Application tools based on GenAI for Local Public Administrations," provided by ER2Digit (the European Digital Innovation Hub of the Emilia-Romagna Region) in collaboration with Lepida, aims to digitize and enrich with metadata the historical archive of the Single Desk for Building (SUE) of the Union of Municipalities of Bassa Romagna.

Compared to what was initially estimated by the supplier in charge of development, with the support of the MarghERita team and by leveraging the computing power provided by the new hardware recently acquired, an improvement in execution speed of approximately 17 times was achieved without any loss of accuracy, and the entire pipeline was successfully completed on about 500,000 pages in a very short time (about 4 days).

This is not only an excellent performance result, but also proof that use cases like that of the Union of Bassa Romagna - Generative AI applications on document repositories - can find a valid technological solution in MarghERita for the purpose of experiments available to other local Public Administrations.
