The LepidaID mobile application by Lepida, already available on Google Play Store by early October 2019, is now also available on the Apple APP Store from the end of December 2019. It is a simple and essential APP for the generation of the temporary security code (the so-called OTP: One-Time Password) which is required to any SPID LepidaID digital identity, in order to access services that are bound by a two-factor identification. An opportunity adding to reception of the OTP via SMS, already available for more than 128.000 LepidaID identity users of the online services of the PA, as well as of private providers members of the Public Digital Identity System (SPID).

In fact, most of the services accessible with SPID require a Level 2 SPID authentication through a double verification (password and OTP), to ensure adequate security for citizens. The LepidaID APP is compatible with versions 4.4 to 10 of Android and iOS 9. It is a lightweight application for mobile devices, allowing an easy, secure and fast OTP generation. It is necessary, only once, to associate the APP to the LepidaID identity, accessing the personal area on id.lepida.it, in order to guarantee the unique use of the OTP generation. Subsequently, at each access to online services the user can choose the OTP reception mode, generated either by the LepidaID system via SMS, or via the application installed on the smartphone. Finally, it is possible, again in the user's personal area, to disassociate the APP in case of change of the mobile device.

Particularly noteworthy is that the mobile application works even in the absence of cellular coverage, and therefore even when the SMS cannot be received; thus addressing the problems expressed by some users, who operate with an Internet connectivity in areas where no cellular coverage is available, for orographic or environmental reasons.
