The "Sustainable PA Award - 100 projects to reach the objectives of the 2030 Agenda” is an initiative promoted by the PA Forum in collaboration with ASviS (Italian Alliance for Sustainable Development), taking place for the second year within the PA Forum 2019, and aiming at collecting the best practical projects/products that promote the sustainable utopia and can help Italy, and in particular each territory, to address the many weaknesses of the current model of development, choosing a path of sustainable growth to be followed until and beyond 2030.
The conviction at the basis of the initiative is that the constant search for innovation by central and local governments, but also by associations and start-ups, is the essential path to ensure the welfare and development of communities, helping the PA to identify and follow a path of sustainable growth.
The prizes were awarded during the second day of the Forum PA 2019, which opened with a discussion on the themes of sustainable innovation and the role of PA, within the event "Promoting sustainable innovation, orienting the market: a new role of government": it saw the inclusion of the TRAFAIR project in the short list of the 100 best projects/products among the applications submitted, in the category "City, Infrastructure and Social Capital".
TRAFAIR, a project co-funded by the European Community seeing Lepida as a partner, aims to monitor in real time the traffic and air quality levels of different urban areas and to build 48-hour forecast pollution maps; it provides in semi-real time data on air quality in the form of Open Data and urban maps, and publishes forecasts of air quality at the urban level as a function of vehicular traffic. The information benefits both the citizen and the Public Administration with a timely and real-time knowledge of air quality levels in a specific urban area (residential area, shopping mall, school...), as well as with expertise on forecasting.
