Lepida has included the Digital Gender Gap into its own Industrial Plan 2025-2027.

Working together with the Regional Digital Agenda, the reduction of this gap represents a crucial challenge for social inclusion, employment and innovation.

Although women represent 51% of the EU population, only 1 out of 3 STEM graduates and 1 out of 5 ICT specialists are women. Filling this gap isn’t just a question of equity: according to the EIGE, raising the number of women in STEM fields could increase EU’s PIL up to 3% by 2050.

In order to face this challenge, in 2023 the Regional Thematic Community on Digital Gender Gap was created, putting together over 70 administrators with responsibilities for equal opportunities and digital.

This Thematic Community wants to make the digital gender divide a central theme in local politics, increasing awareness and capacity for transversal action.

In 2024 it worked through three groups dedicated to digital mapping of cities from a gender perspective, dissemination of good practices and digital culture, producing guidelines, territorial mapping and training sessions.

The activity of Lepida focuses on strengthening the administrators competences on the integration of gender digital equity in local politics. Knowledge and tools are the starting points to build shared and effective territorial paths.
